PRINCE OF WALES COLLEGE, the Provincial seat of higher education claims many illustrious graduates, among whom is Lucy Maude ‘Mcntgomery, the popular authoress of “Anne of Green Gab!ss”, etc., Jacob Gould Schurman, United States Ambassador to Germony; the late Right Honorable Sir Louis H, Davies, former Chief Justice of > Canada, Right Reverend J. T. McNally, Bishop of Hamilton, Ontario. Charlottetown also boasts of the Universiay of Saint Dunstan’s, a Roman Catholic College on the outskirts of the Ciiy. Many of its graduates occupy high positions in church and state, Right Reverend F. C. Kelley, Bishop of Oklahoma, His Grace Archbishop Sinnott of Winnipeg, His Grace Archbishop McGuigan of Toronto, Right Reverend James Morrison of Antigonish and many others. ‘One of the many pleasant drives for motorists is that which leads around and through the love'y groves of Faleenwecd where the Provin- cial Government maintain an Infirmary and Hospital for the Insane. THE EXPERIMENTAL FARM situated on the outskirts of Char- lottetown is the headquarters for technical information and advice on Agricultural matters, throughout the Province. We are sure tourists will be p'eased with the beautiful flower gardens, lawns, and trees to be found here. The gates are always open, and visitors welcome. CAVENDISH. A district which al‘ visitors will no doubt wish to see. The home of “Anne of Green Gables” and ovher of Lucy Maude Montgomery’s popular characters. It may be reached by leaving Char- lottetown on Route 1, branching off at Route 6; or by Routes 1, 6, 7 end 13. Here may be seen the school hcuse which the authoress and her character “Arne” attended, The Cemetery, “The Lake of Shining Waters” (to the right) and to the left is the farm of Mr. E. 'C. Webb, the site of “Green Gables” and on which farm will be found “The Haunted Wood” and “Lover’s Lane.” Nearby is the beautiful beach of Cavendish, with its sand dunes and surf bathing. Here also is an up-to-date dining hall and cottages. THE POLLY MONUMENT. About twenty-five miles from Char- lottetown, not far from the quiet little Vilage of Eldon will be found the Polly Monument erected to the memory of a band of Highlanders ‘rom Scotland, who emigrated in 1803 in the good ship “Polly’ under the patronage of Lord Selkirk. Although they landed with little but their personal effects, it is said they were salf sustaining within a year. This district is today populated largely with the descendants of these hardy Highlanders. Near the Monument is the old “Kirk” built in 1825 which is of considerab'e interest, as is the old graveyard, which contains many ancient head-stones.
